I learned today that it is much easier to give up a bad habit when you have the right motivation. I have been trying for a few months to lose my baby weight, but I just couldn't stay away from Checker's mushroom swiss burgers and fries. I would do my best to eat healthy and avoid the drive thru lanes, but I would always fail. Well the last 2 weeks I have been on a major budget over haul to afford a house I REALLY wanted. I am only supposed to eat at a restaurant once a week. It has truly helped to get away from eating such unhealthy food. Tonight was my 1st time eating fast food. I couldn't decide where to eat! Who would have thought this would be such a dilemma. I finally left the decision up to my husband and he chose Popeyes. It was a good choice, but the food wasn't as satisfying as the sandwiches my bestie made with me while she was visiting last week. Picture a home made Pittsburgh style sandwich with roast beef, farm fresh tomatoes. grilled mushrooms and onions, home made vinegar slaw, bacon, provolone cheese, and a fried egg (yes I said it, a fried egg). May not be the healthiest thing to eat for dinner, but somehow I managed to lose a few pounds that week and so did my friend.
Does this mean I want a house more than being skinny again???
Gawd, those monsters were deeelish.
ReplyDeleteBefore our visit, I was in a flavor rut, and my time with you not only whittled my munching habit but also reignited my mealtime creativity.
Since returning, I've made chicken Parmesan (three-step breading and all), hot roast beef sandwiches (with mushrooms and onions, natch!), and directed hubs assembly of homemade mushroom-onion-swiss burgers - even better with lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Ohhh, mama!
Grocery trip tomorrow-- could be exciting!
